Priests of Arlington: I am writing to ask your help about a serious situation in the diocese. Several years ago Fr. Tuck Grinnell began working with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF), the community organizing group founded by Saul Alinsky, to establish VOICE (Virginians Organized for Interfaith Community Engagement) which lobbies for liberal causes. Since their beginning, eleven Catholic parishes in the VOICE network have funneled about $130,000 into IAF as direct dues. In addition, they have spent other undisclosed amounts to promote VOICE actions. (For example, St. Anthony’s rents buses to send parishioners to VOICE meetings For the dues amounts involved see attachment 2 which lists of all the churches in the VOICE network and attachment 3 which is a breakout of the Catholic parishes and their 2009 donations. Last month I sent the bishop a letter (attachment 1) asking for an audit of the churches involved to determine exactly how much money is going into this effort and whether Catholics in the pew are being told. I also raised the question of whether any illegal actions are taking place since Fr. Grinnell is using the network to promote “comprehensive immigration reform,” a buzz phrase for amnesty for illegal aliens. (See attachment 4.) I continue to wait for a response from the bishop. Since I sent the letter, Stephanie Block has researched the churches in the VOICE network. One shocking piece of information she uncovered is that the Islamic mosque involved was the home church of the terrorists who attacked the Pentagon on 9/11. The mosque is known for promoting violent jihad. Other churches in the network are “progressive” protestant churches that are pro-abortion and pro-homosexual. (See attachment 4: Why I Don’t Contribute to Catholic Campaign for Human Development.) So why am I writing to you? For two reasons: first, I hope you will join me in asking the bishop to audit parishes supporting VOICE. How much money is being diverted to IAF as dues and how much supporst VOICE projects? Are these expenditures being reported in the parish financial statement? The laity has a right to know what pastors are doing with our money, especially during these hard economic times. Promoting politicians like pro-abort Catholic Jim Moran, is unacceptable (See Att. 5). My second reason for writing is to urge you to warn your parishioners about the CCHD collection this month. VOICE received $40,000 from the 2009 grant awards. How many Virginia Catholics would have contributed had they known one of the VOICE churches was the cradle of terrorism where the Pentagon attackers worshiped or if they knew about other churches that actively promote abortion and same-sex marriage? I think most Catholics believe this collection “for the poor” funds the corporal works of mercy, but direct service groups are specifically banned in favor of those that “empower” the poor. They actually, however, empower the organizers. You also may not be aware that there is a third grant component – education. These grants tend to fund social justice gurus who teach the principles of liberation theology and funnel participants into community organizing networks. So not only are the organizations themselves questionable, but the education for “social justice” is radicalizing Catholics in the pew to engage in leftwing politics. The Catholic Church in the United States is being undermined through building coalitions with those who hate us. Unless we stop this insanity, I’m afraid there won’t be much of a church left in the U.S. for my 18 grandchildren. Please help! Sincerely in Christ, Mary Ann Kreitzer Att. 1: Letter to Bishop Loverde http://lesfemmes-thetruth.blogspot.com "The first law of history is not to dare to utter falsehood; the second, not to fear to speak the truth."
