OPEN LETTER TO BISHOP LOVERDE AND THE PRIESTS OF THE ARLINGTON DIOCESE

Your Excellency and Spiritual Fathers:

Dr. Anthony Tambasco of Georgetown University is scheduled to speak at Good Shepherd Church in Alexandria on January 22nd at 7:30 p.m. His topic is "The Dead Sea Scrolls, the Gnostic Gospels, and the Gospel of Judas: How Authentic is the Bible?"

Based on Dr. Tambasco's record of writing and preaching, his answer is "not very." He apparently believes much of the creed is optional. Eminent Catholic layman James Likoudis has outlined Dr. Tambasco's long list of heresies:

They include:

  • The apostles and early church fabricated the miracles and prophecies of Jesus.
  • The resurrection wasn’t necessary.
  • Mary’s perpetual virginity may have been a “theological symbol.”
  • Peter never acknowledged Jesus as God.
  • Jesus Himself didn't know He was God until after the resurrection.
  • Thomas never put his hand in Jesus' side.

Dr. Tambasco has also written that  “It would not destroy my faith, if a theologian proved that [Jesus’] body rotted in the grave.” He snaps his fingers at St. Paul's admonition, “If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is void of content and your faith is empty too.” (1 Cor. 15: 14)

Anthony Tambasco is a hazard to the faith of the people of God. Since I have outlined his heresies on numerous occasions in both the Les Femmes newsletter and in conversations with the chancellor and the catechetical office I am at a loss to understand his continued appearance in the diocese spreading his egregious errors.

I emailed and called the pastor of Good Shepherd, Fr. Chuck McCoart, providing details on Dr. Tambasco. He has not responded, so I now exhort you to take action.

I beg you, Bishop Loverde, for the sake of the faith and for love of the Blessed Mother, permanently ban this heretical speaker from all the parishes in Arlington. At one time Fr. Paul deLadurantaye said the diocese was planning to assign someone to review speakers for orthodoxy. Such a review could prevent the repetition of serious scandals such as this in the future. Has that idea been abandoned?

And to all the priests of the diocese, please offer Masses in reparation for an end to sacrilege and insult against Jesus and Mary. Please protect the faith of our families. If you allow the wolf to enter the sheepfold, what will the Lord say to you on the day of judgment?

I know I can speak for all the laity who support Les Femmes and are committed to praying for our spiritual fathers. We assure you of our continued prayers and sacrifices.

Sincerely in Christ,

Mary Ann Kreitzer
