Sadly, some bishops only understand the language of money so, if you live in a bad diocese, cut it off. How? A certain percentage of your weekly offering in the parish envelope goes to the diocese. Ask your pastor how to give in a way that avoids the diocesan assessment. Give to the parish development fund, e.g., or the parish capital campaign. We have an obligation to support the Church, but not a particular diocese. If your pastor and your bishop are both bad stewards of your money, send it to an orthodox seminary or a diocese that teaches the truth. Stop spending your hard-earned money to destroy the faith in the U.S. Avoid special collections, like CCHD, unless you are sure of the organization’s orthodoxy.
