AWARDSLamplighter Award given to those fostering the light of truth in a dark world: To Archishop Salvatore Cordileone whose courageous defense of traditional marriage from the belly of the beast (San Francisco) earned him the nickname “lion heart,” the literal translation of his surname. Since arriving in the U.S. gay capitol, the archbishop has boldly proclaimed the truth on many moral issues. He continues promoting the West Coast March for Life encouraging the pro-life community. He also speaks authoritatively about problems associated with changing the definition of marriage to include same-sex unions. Here’s just one great quote from the archbishop: “Wanting children to be connected to a mother and father discriminates against no one. Every child has a father and a mother, and either you support the only institution that connects a child with their father and mother or you don’t. Adoption, by a mother and father, mirrors the natural union of a mother and father and provides a balanced, happy alternative for when a child may not be reared by their biological parents.” The argument on marriage, he says, is not based on theology, but on nature. May the Blessed Mother to whom he has such devotion, inspire her courageous son and defender of the little domestic church of the family! Millstone Award given to those who through ignorance or malice scandalize God's people: To Fr. John Jenkins and Notre Dame for jerking around the Torres family, heroic pro-life Catholics committed to life. The despicable false arrest followed by unremitting game-playing by school lawyers shows just how void of Christian charity and justice Notre Dame’s administration is. We ask for the intercession of another John, the Baptist, to pray for Fr. Jenkins who may still have his head, but has lost his Catholic mind and heart. |
