Lamplighter Award given to those fostering the light of truth in a dark world: To the Staff of St. Thomas Aquinas College which offers a truly Catholic education. According to their mission statement, The “pressing duty” of Catholic colleges is “reestablishing…the central role the teaching Church should play in the intellectual life of Catholic teachers and students.” Unlike Jesuit universities around the country, TAC remains faithful to the Church. As a reward, the Lord has blessed their efforts and they are on the verge of opening an East Coast campus, a former school donated for their use with a prospective opening of Fall 2018. May St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Gregory the Great pray for the continued success of this excellent school! Arturo Abascal whose cavalier dismissal of the words of Jesus about marriage and divorce illustrate his modernist leanings. Instead of accepting the clear teaching that, “A man who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery,” Abascal says, “the words of Jesus must be contextualized, they are expressed in a language, in a specific setting, they are addressed to someone in particular.” In other words we can’t know what Jesus meant and can make up our own minds. Like the Pharisees who “strain at a gnat and swallow a camel,” Abascal and his modernist cronies swallow a whole herd of camels with an elephant for dessert. Jesus spoke with authority not in nuanced deceit like Abascal. May St. Ignatius and all the other Jesuit saints pray for Abascal and the Jesuit order which is so corrupt today. Founded to be the “pope’s men,” they undermined John Paul II and Benedict. Their enthusiasm for Francis is no compliment. |
