Dear Editor:
I am writing about my serious reservations about VOICE (Virginians Organized for Interfaith Community Engagement). I think it is the most blatant example of why Catholics should steer clear of such interfaith ecumenical activities. Watch the video of the imam letting you know this rally is about pressuring elected leaders in our area to support Muslim prayer in Fairfax Co. Schools and empower Muslims. Notice how the information is very clear about what attire is acceptable?

Is this really where St. John Neumann and several other CATHOLIC parishes think is a good idea to spend the parishioner’s money? The fact is, the parishioners are in most cases never asked. The decision to join this socialist organization—founded by Saul Alinsky, author of Rules for Radicals, is made by the pastor and a small number of people involved in social justice ministry.
(http://www.voice-iaf.org/membersleaders) This “action” they are planning is right out of the Alinsky playbook.

Editor’s Note: Should Catholic parishes be spending money to advance the Islamic religion? Eight Catholic member parishes and a Catholic university were associated with this lobby effort for Islamic prayer in Fairfax County Schools. Will VOICE support an event demanding Catholic Masses in schools on Holy Days? Don’t hold your breath.
