***Scandal & Sacrilege at Holy Trinity in Georgetown! Holy Trinity parish in Georgetown is among the most scandalous Catholic churches in the country and has been for decades. It was Joe Biden’s parish when he was Obama’s vice president and he’s chosen it as his parish again. On his first Sunday after taking office, Biden attended Mass and received Holy Communion, a scandal and sacrilege. This was just two days after he celebrated the anniversary of Roe v. Wade saying in a statement: “We are deeply committed to making sure everyone has access to care – including reproductive health care [i.e., abortion] – regardless of income, race, zip code, health insurance status, or immigration status.... The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to codifying Roe v. Wade and appointing judges that respect foundational precedents like Roe.” Translate this into plain language and Biden says killing children is tops while he’s pres and he will make sure there are absolutely no restrictions. He guarantees his judicial nominees will act like the Nazi judges condemned at the Nuremberg trials for crimes against humanity. The Little Sisters of the Poor, Catholic parishes and schools, and all faith-based ministries can expect serious persecution in the days ahead. Nonetheless, the Jesuits at Holy Trinity (Are you surprised it’s a Jesuit-run parish?) affirm Uncle Joe in his grave sins of scandal and sacrilege. They are no friends to either him or their other parishioners! ***The Silence of the Bishops Calls Out to Heaven! Dante’s Inferno reserved the hottest places in hell for those who, in times of moral crisis, remained silent. In legal terms, silence indicates consent. In theological terms it represents a sin of omission if those being silent have an obligation to speak. The 2020 government shutdown of religious services met almost universal silence from the American bishops who sent the flock a graphic message that Dr. Fauci, not God, is the master over life and death. At a time when preaching about faith and trust was desperately needed, the bishops indulged in handwringing and fear. Despite the fact that liquor stores and abortion businesses were open, churches closed almost everywhere. A handful of clergy offered outside Masses, but most of the faithful had no alternative but virtual Masses on TV. Think of the capacity of a cathedral like the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, one of the largest in the world. The upper church measures over 77,000 square feet. Rector Fr. Walter Rossi, at Caesar’s diktat closed the church “until further notice” on March 17, 2020. When it reopened three months later, Caesar allowed only 50 worshipers to pray in the cavernous upper church. The Archdiocese of D.C. under Wilton Gregory did nothing until mid-December when the archdiocese finally sued D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser. (Was it concern for the flock or the Christmas collection?) Even now, only 250 may “by registration” attend Mass at the shrine which every year filled the upper church with at least 10,000 for the annual Mass preceding the March for Life. ***Speaking of the March, It Goes Virtual for 1st Time! ***The Deafening Silence of the Hierarchy on Abortion During the presidential campaign, the U.S. bishops said little about Biden’s abortion position. With few exceptions, they ignored his promise to codify Roe v. Wade and name only pro-aborts to the judiciary which would undoubtedly raise the death toll of the innocent exponentially. In an interview with LifeSiteNews in October, Archbishop Carlo Vigano condemned the bishops’ silence saying, “I remind my brother Bishops that they were anointed with the Holy Chrism as athletes of the Faith, not as neutral spectators of the struggle between God and the Adversary.” He said they have the “grace of state... to be heard by your flock, who recognizes in you the voice of the Divine Shepherd (Jn 10:2-3). Do not be afraid to proclaim the Gospel of Christ, just as the Apostles and the Bishops who succeeded them did not fear martyrdom.” Vigano also praised bishops and priests defending the little ones saying, “I pray that the few, courageous Pastors who raise their voices to defend the inviolable and non-negotiable principles which the Lord has established in natural law, may be joined by those who today hesitate out of fear, timidity, or a false sense of prudence.”
***Vigano Laments Pope’s Silence on Abortion in FT ***Other Members of the Catholic Left Betray Christ ***Bishops! It’s Time to End the Silence and Scandal. Phil Lawler at Catholic Culture recently called out the bishops writing, “The question for American bishops is not whether Biden et al can reconcile their actions with Catholic moral principles. We know the answer to that question: they cannot. The question, your eminences and excellencies, is: What are you going to do about it?” A few bishops have expressed fears that if they disciplined Catholic politicians for promoting the culture of death, the angry public backlash might cause a net setback for the pro-life movement. Well, how has their soft-sell strategy been working all these years? The duty of Catholic bishops is not to make political calculations. Their duty is to protect the souls of the faithful and the integrity of the faith. Do that, and let the faithful lay Catholics who are active in political life cope with the consequences.... [A]fter decades of public debate about abortion, it is extremely unlikely that one more episcopal statement will suddenly turn the political tide. We all know...what our bishops say about Catholic politicians who promote abortion. What we want to know now is what—if anything—they will do.” ***After 60 Years and over 68 Million Dead Babies..... It’s time for excommunication of public heretics who enable the continued abortion holocaust. Excommunication is a medicinal treatment to call sinners to repentance and to protect the flock from scandal. To allow the charade that one can be a “devout Catholic” while publicly promoting a grievous sin that incurs excommunication for the sinner is wrong! Three Canons in the Code of Canon Law are relevant to this question: Canon 1398: “A person who procures a completed abortion incurs a latae sententiae excommunication.” Canon 751: “Heresy is the obstinate denial or obstinate doubt after the reception of baptism of some truth which is to be believed by divine and Catholic faith; apostasy is the total repudiation of the Christian faith; schism is the refusal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him.”Canon 1364 n. 1: “an apostate from the faith, a heretic, or a schismatic incurs a latae sententiae excommunication.”Both canon 751 and 1364 apply to pro-abortion Catholic politicians. In 2007 Pope Benedict was asked on a flight to Brazil if he supported the Mexican bishops warning to excommunicate any politician voting for abortion. He replied: "Yes, this excommunication was not an arbitrary one but is allowed by Canon law which says that the killing of an innocent child is incompatible with receiving communion, which is receiving the body of Christ.... [The bishops] “did nothing new, surprising or arbitrary. They simply announced publicly what is contained in the law of the Church…which expresses our appreciation for life and that human individuality, human personality is present from the first moment....Selfishness and fear are at the root of (pro-abortion) legislation. We in the Church have a great struggle to defend life…life is a gift, not a threat. The Church says life is beautiful, it is not something to doubt but it is a gift even when it is lived in difficult circumstances. It is always a gift." Do our shepherds to care enough about the salvation of souls under their care to stop the scandals? Catholic politicians who promote abortion commit grave sin. It’s long past time to publicly excommunicate these obstinate sinners for the sake of their own souls and the souls they scandalize. You cannot be Catholic and pro-abortion! Please pray the rosary for families mourning the loss of a baby: October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, dedicated to remembering babies lost before birth and in infancy. Our abortion culture treats the preborn as nonpersons, but miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, or illness all take the lives of real children. A mom can’t carry a baby under her heart without loving and nurturing her little one, even if she never gets the chance to wrap her arms around her baby. That this commemoration take place in the month of the rosary is providential. Mary, pray for us. |
